From Scratch Gluten Free Spaghetti Sauce

by James Novotny 19. May 2010 02:54

If spaghetti is one of your favorite foods, you can still eat it gluten free. Here is a tasty recipe for gluten free spaghetti sauce. It's easy to make and tasty over a variety of different types of pasta. The great thing is, with this recipe you can make several quarts of sauce to have around.

10 pounds of lean ground beef
6 cans of tomato sauce (29oz cans)
4 cans of tomato paste (12 oz cans)
1 can whole tomatoes (28 oz can)
1 oz fresh rosemary
1 oz fresh thyme
1 oz fresh savory
1 oz fresh oregano
2 medium onions
6 celery stalks
1 tsp garlic, minced
3/4 tbsp sugar

Use a food chopper, food processor, or blender to chop up herbs and whole tomatoes. Then chop the celery and onion. (Use water with it if using a blender and then drain them) Brown the ground beef. Add the herbs, onion, celery, tomatoes, sauce, beef, tomato paste, and garlic into a large roaster pan. Stir in the sugar to cut back on the acid. Slow cook the sauce on 275 for 4-8 hours.

Will make 11 quarts of sauce. Store in jars by canning or freeze the sauce to use later.

Sauce can be served over pasta that is gluten free.
